Why are some religions so intolerant of each other?

Some people are afraid of the truth, some don't want to change their ways and live in a way that pleases God, some hate the idea of someone being higher than them (God), some don't care at all, etc. There are so many reasons why some people are the way they are. In general, I try not to take it personal.
